Dr. Gary L. Ahlman attended the University of Nebraska for his
pre-Optometry curriculum. His professional education program
was completed in 1968 at the University of Houston and
included Bachelor of Science, Certificate in Optometry, and
Doctor of Optometry degrees.
Dr. Ahlman started in practice in June 1968 in Edinburg,
Texas, and has practiced here since that time. Dr. Ahlman
founded the Edinburg Vision Center and has always strived to
provide full professional eyecare and optical services all
these years. A full surfacing laboratory to provide expedited
service was begun in 1976 and operates within Edinburg Vision
Center.
Since founding
Edinburg Vision Center, Dr. Ahlman has worked closely with The
Lion’s Club to provide eyecare to indigent children. He also
works closely with the County Indigent Program and with the
Sight for Students program to provide eyecare and eyeglasses
for those in our community that are less fortunate. Forty two
years after establishing Edinburg Vision Center, Dr. Ahlman
retired on July 20,2009 and sold his ownership of Edinburg
Vision Center to Dr. Luis S. Navarro.
