Presbyopia is the blurry vision at near that develops as we age.  It normally begins to develop at forty years of age.  Early symptoms include blurry vision that comes and goes when we read, headaches and eye strain with prolonged reading or computer use.  These symptoms may cause you to extend objects or to seek brighter light to read.

There are several different options to help with presbyopia, including a separate pair of reading glasses, bifocals, trifocals, progressive lenses (i.e. no line), or computer or occupational eyeglasses.  Multifocal contacts are also a good option to help you read and see better up close.
